I gave a presentation on the use of the Mac with OutSpoken to the
Visually Impaired and Blind User's Group in 1990, shortly after moving
to Boston, MA to take a job in which I used the Mac and OutSpoken to
perform my job duties. At the time, a rep from one of the local
institutions who was an expert in IBM and PC clone adaptive tech--
stuff like Vert, I think, even before VocalEyes--got up and started
asking me about all the negatives about OutSpoken; what can't I do?
Isn't it hard to do this? and that? I was 21 and very naive, and
didn't know how to effectively counter this strategy, so the Mac with
OutSpoken didn't have the advocate it should have had. I think this
persecution persists even today--my DOR worker keeps subtilely
intimating that I'm wasting my time with the Mac, because the business
world is PC geared. *shrug*
