Hi All -

I’m stuck and looking for advice on how to get unstuck.

H/W & S/W configuration:
Two systems: iMac Pro & MacBook Pro (problem is common to both)
OS X 10.4.4
xCode 10.2
MacPorts 2.5.4

The problems I’m encountering are
* A failure in archivefetch for many (all?) ports;
* ports diagnose claiming xCode 10.2 unsupported (but no info on web site
indicating this is the case…?)

On the laptop: New laptop, with set-up while on travel. Installed macports from
the package installer. All went well. When I went to install ports, however, I
find that no ports would download:

Gracie:~ lsfinn$ sudo port selfupdate ; sudo port install hunspell
Password:
---> Updating MacPorts base sources using rsync
MacPorts base version 2.5.4 installed,
MacPorts base version 2.5.4 downloaded.
--->  Updating the ports tree
---> MacPorts base is already the latest version

The ports tree has been updated. To upgrade your installed ports, you should run
  port upgrade outdated

This problem has persisted without change for over a week, and with all ports
I’ve tried to install.

Likewise, on my desktop: On return from travel (see laptop) after performing
system updates (including xCode) I went to updage my existing ports and found
what appears to be the same port download problem:

Inspection of logs does not reveal anything useful (to me).

On both systems, when I run diagnose, I get an indication that xcode 10.2 is
not supported:

Quedo [42] Yeah? sudo port diagnose
Password:
Error: currently installed version of Xcode, 10.2, is not supported by
MacPorts. For your currently installed system, only the following versions of
Xcode are supported: 10.1 10.0
Warning: found dylibs in your /usr/local/lib directory. These are known to
cause problems. We'd recommend you remove them.
Warning: found header files in your /usr/local/include directory. These are
known to cause problems. We'd recommend you remove them.

However, when I try to find some indication on the macports web site, or via
google, I’m unable to find anything regarding xcode 10.2/macports problems.

I’d very much appreciate any advice that will help me get macports running
again on the desktop, or up and running on the laptop.

Thanks,

Sam
