You misunderstood the concept of LyX. Our aim is to provide a word processor using the WYSIWYM concept (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WYSIWYM). LyX is not a text editor and is not designed to edit LaTeX-code directly. LyX therefore has no syntax highlighting as there is no TeX-code to be edited (except of the document preamble).
