we have talked about this in devel list multiple times. the most elegant way (from the lyx's point of view) would be just ask qt to use different DISPLAY where the particular window goes. as reported by Andre qt does not allow this and it won't happen any time soon. there are other and more difficult possibilities how to implement, but i would just repeat the thread... pavel
