All Unleashed books are written by a main author and lots of contributing authors. However, it's carved up by chapter, so no chapter is collaborative. I see collaborative situations as a meeting where everyone's trying to design something. For years the VimOutliner project has tried to build in collaboration, but it's very difficult. You can always do poor man's collaboration. Have ten people in a room, each with their own VNC client, and have them all work on a single instance of a single program. I can't for the life of me see why a document writing software like LyX should be collaborative above and beyond being able to farm out chapters to different people, which it can already do.
