Thanks for the reply, Im not sure what you mean, all files are where they
should be as far as I can see. All images in the lyx tmp dir also seem
fine.
You issue might lay in spaces used in paths to you bibliography file.
This topic was discussed large number of times on this list.
There are no spaces in any of the absolute pathnames. Some underscores and a
hypen but no spaces. I tried removing the hyphen but no difference. However,
like I said I can work around the image problems using ps2pdf. The bibtex
problem remains though.

suggest there is soemthing seriously wrong. What's being cited are LaTeX
"rubber lengths"! I have no idea why this would happen, but either (a)
there's some serious problem in your BibTeX file or else (b) there's a
problem in the LyX file itself that's causing this error. I'm guessing
maybe it's an extra "}" or "{" somewhere? But it's hard to debug from here.
