Good. LaTeX and 1.4.x LyX are linear enough and simple enough that you can 
figure out how to create LyX content programatically, without knowing the 
specification. My experience is that XML is so interdependent on other parts 
of its file and on other files that it's almost impossible to add content 
programatically, without the entire specification and making a big todo out 
of the project.
