LyX 1.5 can be compiled with Qt 4.2, 4.3, and 4.4. Qt 4.4. was just not release when LyX 1.5.4 came out, so we could first support it with LyX 1.5.5. When a users uses the brand new Qt he also has to use the brand new LyX.
