Abdel, I think you miss the point that some people do not want to
update their distro, but want to update LyX nevertheless. And many of
these people are faithful LyX users, too.

No, I understand that. What I meant is that compiling software is not something an end user can do without documenting himself a bit. It's not that hard. In the case of Steve, his problem was clearly something he could have resolved by himself without questioning our choice of development tool. But I am sure Steve will notice the many nice UI improvements brought but our choice of Qt and will withdraw his criticism :-)
