Hi, I started using lyx today and i like the idea (at least in principle) but I have difficulty using the actual program. The reason why I'm writing is this is not to complain or insult you, but in hopes that there is something wrong with my version and that my concerns can be fixed. I'm using the ubuntu gutsy version, which is 1.5.1.
Overall, It seems slow, and all of the examples and tutorials refuse to covert to dvi, pdf or ps, with various error messages. It also crashed; I don't remember why, but it didn't have an autorecovery feature which upset me. But the biggest problem I have is that I can't select blocks of text. I can click and drag to select and the text is highlighted in light blue, but about 500 ms after I let up the mouse it magically unselects. This makes it impossible to do things like block select. Is lyx supposed to work like this or is my version defective? Thank you for your time.
