Oh! OK. So that means the last version I successfully
compiled/installed, v1.4.4, used either xforms/qt3. I can neither find
any Slackware package containing the characters "xform" installed on my
system nor any such package included in the original Slack 11.0
distribution, so I presume qt3 was sufficient for v1.4.4. Nonetheless,
it is apparent that I'll need to install both qt4 and qt-devel to
successfully compile and install LyX v1.4.5.1 (or higher?).

DPD.
