I am unable to successfully compile LyX v1.4.5.1 using the configure script.

Although the configure completes, the last line says "qt library not
found". The qt library is indeed installed on my system - it is a
Slackware package as a matter of fact. LyX is not the only application
exhibiting such a message...there are other applications I've tried to
compile but they too failed with similar "qt lib...lib not found" error
messages.

I've quickly perused through the LinuxQuestions forums but found nothing
useful. I am hoping that one of you has experienced the same/a very
similar problem, and has found and will share the solution.

My system is running Slackware 11.0, kernel v2.6.21.6. If you want more
info, just ask for it.
