No, the opposite.

Because I have here a file composed with rc2 (which I have not installed yet, the file was sent to me) and I cannot open it with rc1.

If you really don't want to install rc2, you should at least copy the lib/lyx2lyx directory from the rc2 tarball and replace the one in your rc1 installation. This way, you will be able to open the rc2 generated document with your rc1 installation.
