I think this would work the same as MS Word -- the publisher gives you a 
LyX/LaTeX layout file, and you use LyX to write the book. As we all know, if 
all the necessary styles, both paragraph and character, are already made for 
you, LyX is probably the easiest (please undertand my use of quotes 
here) "wordprocessor" on the face of the earth.
