Why do you want to do that? Why don't you let LyX export the file whenever
it is needed?

That depends what you want to do. But you should not need that. Just include
the .fig file via Insert->File->External Material, and LyX will do the
export automatically when it is needed.

That does not work. If you include it as a graphic you need a format that
can be converted to eps. That is not the case with pstex_t, you either need
to include the fig file directly, or the exported eps file. In both cases
you can not use formulas in xfig, therefore the recommended way is to use
the external inset.

LyX automatically adjusts these paths for you if you use the external inset.
Believe me, you don't want to know all the details of pstex_t. Just include
the fig file via the external inset, and LyX does everything for you.
