These GUI quirks have been reported before by users of Intel Macs. I
have a PPC Mac, and I have not encountered them.
I have no idea what could be going wrong. If you're willing to
compile LyX yourself, Jean-Marc at one point prepared a patch that
could help us figure out what's going wrong. See:
