  That's an excellent question. :-) It's been a year since the book was
published and I've not thought about the raw document for longer than that.
What I've done is take a screenshot of a table (in the .lyx file) with
multiple rows in a column and extracted the LaTeX code from the file.
They're in the attached tarball.

  I see no overt formatting marks in the table, and I suspect that I
adjusted the column width until the text in the left column wrapped itself
to fit. Hope the attached helps.
