It works. Still I do wonder what the messages about the fonts mean. The
fonts are installed in my texmf directory. Should the commandline
options work as well?

Ah! In my first cursory glance I was missing this. Now it is clear what
is happening. When a path contains spaces, LyX quotes it by \string" and
the script wasn't expecting that :(

Please, find attached the updated latex and pdflatex scripts to be
placed in /usr/local/bin. Actually, I am not going to break the thread
because you cc'ed me and I am replying to your email.

Tell me if it works for you.
