Also have a look > at the multicol documentation (texdoc multicol on unix). the question is, whether I have to disable in the document>pages the twocolumn selection or whether the multicols overrides it, if I use \begin{multicols}{1} somewhere in the text and close it with \end{multicols} and am I than back again in twocolums? Should perhaps add, that all my text is in twocolumn, just on two occassions I want onecolumn for just a few pages. I could try out all this, but my experience is that I muddle everything up and its takes ages until I am through. So if you could just give me a hint for the placement Thanks, Wolfgang
