to repeat my situation:
I have a twocolumn koma-book document
I have selected twocolumn in document>page
makes no sense together with package multicol. Disable it
I have added in the preample
\usepackage{multicol}
in order to avoid an empty page which is inserted
with the twocolumn selection
(as recommended on this list, thanks again)
