The problem is that although I can see the included images in the LyX screen, I cannot see the images when I select View --> PDF (pdflatex). I can't even get Preview to show anything if I pick the other two options (dvidpdm and 'ps to pdf'). With pdflatex, the PDF comes up, the text is there, but the images are not. The space they should occupy is just blank. I get the same behaviour with TeXshop after I convert my LyX to laTeX, so I'm guessing I have something misconfigured somewhere, but WHAT???
I had this working before with LyX 1.3.4 and 1.3.6, but unfortunately my /usr/local got trashed, along with all the source files (in /usr/local/src) I had used to create everything. (Yes, I had a backup. Yes, I deleted it as I was trying to restore. Cries of anguish ensued...) I've deleted and reinstalled LyX 1.3.4, 1.3.6 and 1.3.7. I've tried with and without my old preferences. I've installed teTeX using MacTeX, and using II2 using the instructions posted at the TeXshop website. Same problem. I've searched through the archives of this and other mailing lists, with no luck either. I have assignments due (yes, I went back to uni at my age) in the next two days and I can't print my freaking work!! Yes, I'm angry, sad, despondent and desperate. ALL my homework is in LyX files, and I can't make it show images on the output! note to the wiser: In its wisdom, unlike every other unix out there that I've seen in 21 years as a system admin, Apple removes /usr/local when you reinstall the operating system. Guess who proceeded to screw up his backup of /usr/local (yes, I know better, I screwed up by not being paranoid enough, but it's still Apple's fault for deleting the damn directory in the first place...) Help! Thanks, Marc
