Hi

This is a warning^H^H^H^H^H^H^H blurb that I just finally upgraded the
wiki to the new wiki engine. I've eventually realised that I'm unable to
guarantee a perfectly smooth transition, so instead I'll just plunge in
and deal with any problems as they occur and get the thing over with...

Having said that, I hope the ride won't be too bad, and I'll monitor the
lists for issuses related to the wiki, in addition to incrementally fixing
any remaining issues.

We're going from version 0.6 to 2.1, so there will be quite a few changes
but hopefully only for the better. The wiki markup has changed
substantially. However, this meant porting all the pages to the new
markup, which might have introduced errors. Anyway, the upgrade wiki
has replaced the old version and it can found in the usual place

        http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/Welcome

whereas if you absolutely, definitely need to see what it looked like
using the old wiki you can find it here:

        http://wiki.lyx.org/0.6.15/LyX/Welcome

Editing of the old pages is prohibited (with a password), so please modify
the new pages instead. The test wiki should *not* be used any more for
changes that you actually want to keep.

The major difference in markup is that all links should from now on be
written within square brackets, like this for instance:

        [[Welcome]]

In addition, all "directives" are now written within (:...:), e.g.

        (:include Welcome:)

The idea is that this will make things more consistent.

Another difference is that so called CamelCase (or WikiWords) are being
depreceated. If you wonder why, one reason is to avoid having every
occurence of LyX, LaTeX, BibTeX etc being changed into a link. Right now
you have to write e.g. [=LyX=] to avoid it from becoming a link. From now
on, the idea is that you should only get links when you explicitly
indicate this (by using double square brackets).

best regards
/Christian
