Exactly like it is described in the AMS documentation. The output on screen might be wrong IIRC, but LaTeX output is fine. Remember that a column in LyX is an '&' sign in LaTeX, so if the documentation suggests something like a&=b&+c you have to create three columns in LyX: a =b +c Georg
