There are two possible reasons: The convertyer fails, or lyx can't display the .ppm file correctly. What you could do is to open the generated .ppm files with xv or gimp. Then you'll see wether the file is corrupt, or lyx ca't display it. I do still not understand why this happens at all. How did you install both .lyx versions? From source, or a binary package? Georg
