a good alternative is VTeX/Linux, which is free and can handle _any_ graphics format and _any_ PostScript related code.
But VTeX is not free under Win, insn't it?
VTeX seems to be a complete (La)TeX distribution. Is it possible to use only the pdf-producing engine together/for other LaTeX-distributions?
