Specifically, I think you need to download and have a look at the
contents of
ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/stable/lyx-mac-1.3.4-skeleton.tar.gz
Of course, knowing absolutely nothing about MacOSX, I may be talking
nonsense ;-)
