Hi Marc

I was not using iInstaller, only fink (downloaded the necessary packages: tetex, ghostscript and imagemagick). And when I startup the aqua version of LyX, it seems to work, even without running "LyX-Setup"... I was just wondering what the "LyX-Setup" Apple-Script does (it is compiled, so I can't take a look at it) which is included in the LyX MacOSX binary from "http://www.18james.com/lyx_on_aqua.html";.

Perhaps I'm now missing something, which does not work, I just have not found it yet - all seems to work (except some interface glitches, but I think they are related to Qt/Mac?)

many thanks
Michael

Firstly, I just downloaded fink for OS X yesterday and there are teTex packages available. So you should be able to use that to install.

So my question is just, what this LyX-Setup Application really does? Is it only for configuring the LyX-Application or will it install Software (e.g. Qt) inside my UNIX-directories? (Have not found any hint in mailing-list or webpage)

Are you refering to iInstaller? All it does is download and configure the neccessary packages. However there seems to be some order in which this needs to be done. I found this list available on a link from the iInstaller site. Its the webpage to a Tex frontend. I forget which one.

However I tried it on my new iBook and get the install order wrong. So I tried uninstalling the packages and doing it again. I uninstalled Tex first and I selected uninstall 'everything' instead of clicking individual check boxes and it got rid of _all_ my applications! :o

Maybe I did something wrong ...

Any user experiences installing teTex on OS X that someone would kindly share to a new OS X user?

Marc
