There is no such thing like an french ui: the bynary internationalization files like ../share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/lyx.mo built at lyx configure time from lyx-fr.po file knows about the french translation of default.ui, layouts, ... If lyx is built --without-nls, this won't work however. Idem if gettext is not installed I guess. You may check the existence of the .mo files, and perhaps review your installation procedure. -- Jean-Pierre
