Peter, Ah! > It seems as if it is not creating the postscript file, because rather than > formatting the document, it prints the formatting instructions, such as > "\textclass article, \spacing single" etc. Well, it's printing the raw LyX output so the application and the printer are on speaking terms even if they're not yet formally engaged. > I think there must be something missing from my installation, but I am so new > to Lyx (and am fairly new to Linux) that I don't know where to go from here. > So frustrating! Since I changed my CUPS printer definitions from the old 'laser5' to two new definitions (laser5_ps and laser5_non_ps), most applications get confused because I've not chased down the config files and re-specified the default printer name. However, I can still print to a disk file and see the .ps version there. Then lpr will ship that to the printer. I belive now that LyX is not properly configured for your printer. I'm not running X now so I can't go look at what I have there. But, you're getting much closer to fixing it. We now know it's a matter of specifying the printer so LyX recognizes it.
