Yeah, I've used it now and then... guess I was hoping for something with 
an export function for LyX (or a script someone has hacked for converting 
to LyX).

mmm... I used to do it like that, but lately I've mostly been using the 
item or enumerate environments in LyX for outlining.. I think that what 
I'd really like is avoid having to do the manual work required for going 
back and forth between the outline and the document (i.e. I have to 
change a chapter heading in both places etc...)

Hmm... this is probably something that really has to be done from within 
LyX to get it right.
