Hi,

I have been a LyX user for 5 years now and am very pleased with it:
all my scientific produce for the last 5 years has been done with
LyX. The code up to version 1.1.6 became better and better which was
quite exciting! Presently I am writing a book (with a lot of
equations!), I have done about 400 pages already. At that point I
decided to install the version 1.2.1 and found it highly
disappointing! Many good things which existed in 1.1.6 disappeared,
some old problems still exist. I'll try to come to the point and list
the problems:

1. it is not longer possible to have all the math aplletes openned;
this was quite a nice and convenient feature: I had all bracket and
decorations openned all the time ready to get a click, not anymore!
Why on earth did you remove this feature?

2. It used to be also possible to avoid extra clicking after using the
math panel to continue typing, e.g. clicking on () and then putting
the content immediately as the cursor is moved to the main LyX
window. Not anymore! I think you should rethink the way the typing
of Math is done in LyX, I am ready to discuss this with you e.g. on
the phone
(+44-(0)2074842160) or in email, I have written more than 700 pages
already, may be even more!

3. I cannot preview the figure (why on hell have you removed this
option from the figure panel???); even worse, now I cannot see it
at all in the LyX window: "error converting to loadable format".
If this really a problem with Ghostview, why it worked fine in older
versions like the 1.1.6 one?

4. In addition, when I want to browse in order to load a picture file,
it does not offer eps format at all! Only *.(gif|jpg|gif|jpg|gz)
can be seen with several extensions repeated twice. It must be a
bug: in 1.2.0 there were more formats, however, eps/ps were missing
as well.
The whole design of the figure panel got worse: it used to be clear
and straighforward, everything infront of you, now there are 5-6
tabs, etc. I do not thing it is for better.

5. There should be a possibility to save the file in an older Lyx
format - useful, e.g. if you have an older version installed on
another machine. I suppose, I can save it as a LaTeX file instead
and import....However, it would be nicer if LyX can do that!

6. Another annoying bug: when you try to use the text mode within the
math mode then the Math panel disappears.

There must be other tiny things (like after typing a super/subscript, the cursor goes back to the position
by the symbol rather than going forward which would be more logical as symbols with both types super and subscript
happen less likely), but these are the ones which came to me
first. As I said, I would be more than happy to discuss anything with
you, if you come back to me. But for now, I am afraid, I have to
switch back to the version 1.1.6 which, inspite of some bugs (as, for
instance, the problem 6 above) works fine!
