Did you use the tetex.rpm shipped by SuSE? This should not install to
.../local/ by default. [It certainly does not wiht 7.1 and 7.3, so I'd be
very surprised if it did with 7.2]

What does 'rpm -qa | grep lyx' say?  'rpm -e lyx-exact-name' should work.
