I would like to know if it is possible to change the environment numbering for obtain environments (definition, example, ...) with independant numbering (for example : "definition 1.1.1 / example 1.1.1" in place of "definition 1.1.1 / example 1.1.2"). Is the way which consits to create a new layout to be the only solution (thank you to Robin for his answer) ? Anyelse, what must I do for having "Chapter", "Example" in french (Chapitre, Exemple, ...) in the output (postcript or pdf file) ? Thanks.
