No, I don`t believe in monolithic applications/all-in-one. Most of the software, I use, is modular e.g. qmail as opposed to sendmail. But, I want to do a lot of things via a GUI app (e.g.lyx) that links to other app`s. The DVI, pdf, ps, are not part of lynx, they are probably piped to those other applications when you click the button. The same for the spell checker etc. But I would like to create a document, and be able to output it into a variety of formats with minimal, hand changes. If anyone has better options, please do say something. Like I said, latex/lyx kept coming up so I was hoping I could focus on content and not spend most of the time learning and babying a convoluted system.
