Originally, although I had this directory, it was ~empty~. Both in the

As I said, they weren't intitally there, but ~now~ they are.

BINGO!!! It would appear that the initial install of tetex-* files
(including extra, docs, dev, etc.) was broken. I eventually just a/g
--reinstall install'd all the relevent packages.

All works now exactly as I need it to.

Stable .... I haven't the ... compusure (or content apartment insurance) to
dally with the notion of testing or unstable. My few ~failed~ attempts at
upgrading were during the rash of X related config problems. I'm more than
happy to wait for Woody to become stable.
