Well, well,
here we go again ;-)
- LyX lets you write content without being bothered by layout more than
deciding what *kind* of content you're writing (heading, paragraph,
standard text,...) and what *kind* of document you're writing (report,
article,...). There is no such thing as tabbing (or worse filling with
spaces) a paragraph to the right indentation. We are using computers, not
typewriters, right? Let the computer do the stupid work of deciding where
the graphics, formulas whatever fit best _and_ look best (this may be a
different place than you thought of...).
- The output is a quality you will never ever achieve with M$-word,
$un-soffice or wordperfect alike, because LaTeX does it!
- You don't need to know LaTeX (just copy and paste from our list, if you
really need it;-)) and still get LaTeX-Quality.
- Even if LyX crashes you still will at most have lost a word or two!
- lyx-files are small and human-readable (ie UNIX-tool-parseable ,-)):
long live sed, awk an Perl!)
what else is there to want?
Have fun*
