Scott, I'm surprised that using LyX to create speaker's notes is not a common task. Anyway, I created a 6-page set from the 23 slides in the presentation. I created a new document using the KOMA-Script scrartcl class with plain pagestyle and base font size 12 pts, imported the talk's text file, and set each slide number/title as a section*.
