The issue is the figure.

Empirically I found two ways to work around it. If I use two boxes to
get that effect I either:

1. Place some text above both the figure and the table;
2. Use negative spacing above the table to get it to align with the
figure.

I suppose that there could be other ways. Usually I do this on beamer
presentations.
