I think it is possible to fix this, and my feeling is it isn't that hard (although I'm often wrong on this). I outlined a plan here: https://www.lyx.org/trac/ticket/6403#comment:9 but did not get any feedback on it. @LyX developers: It would be nice to at least agree on what a patch would look like. Again, I am not volunteering to write it. But for example, is there agreement this would involve a new copier variable (as discussed in my plan linked above)? I've wanted to work on this, and I don't think it would be too hard. But I will not find the time anytime soon. If anyone volunteers to work on it, I will be happy to provide feedback and testing. By the way, thanks for sticking with LyX Neal even though it doesn't have the thing you'd most like to see! Scott
