1.1.6 is backwards compatible with 1.1.5, that is, it will read your
1.1.5 documents and templates and will use them with no problem. It will
write only 1.1.6 compatible documents so you won't be able to go back.
If you do care for your work you'll backup everything and try it in a
controlled environment before deploying it.
The layouts are the same, there was no change that I'm aware of in the
layouts definition format.
There is no backward translator for the formats, so if you find you have
a problem with 1.1.6 and need to go back to 1.1.5, you're stuck. Such a
translator can be written, but no-one stepped up to do such a thing,
especially since the format is a moving target with almost every version
lately.
