I should know the answer to this but apparently have forgotten. Is
there any way to modify the "New from Template" dialog so that local
templates (in ~/.lyx/templates on Linux) are one click away?
Alternatively, is there a way to add to the list of directory
shortcuts on the left side of the dialog (currently "Computer" and my
home directory)?
I just use Ctrl + Shift + N and it opens my custom templates directory,
I click on the one I want and it opens.

I have no idea if this is the correct way to do it, but hope it helps
or gives you an idea how it should be done better or more to your needs

Thanks for the response. On my system, Ctrl + Shift + N is bound to buffer-new-template, which is the default binding (at least with the cua bind file). That does the same thing as File > New from Template: it opens /usr/share/lyx/templates. There's no LFUN specific to the local templates directory, so my guess is that you have the local templates directory set in the template path field under Preferences.

Do you have a convenient way to use the templates installed with LyX (in /usr/share/lyx/templates)?

Cheers,
Paul
