Sentence "For most users, choosing "Continue" is the appropriate choice." sounds definately better. But I am not inexperienced user and for me minimum information why should I continue (but more specific than only "LyX requires") is better. A lot of detales would be too complex. "More details" with some information (one sentence about broken installation and link to wiki) would be ideal: who want can go to wiki and read detales, one sentence for not so curious and possibility not to read any burdensome information for totally inexperienced users. Happines for all :).
