I currently use LyX with Windows 7, 10, and Linux Mint Cinnamon 17. I sync files on Dropbox and open them on any computer. The only time I've had problems is when I don't have the same version of LyX installed on all computers. To ensure functionality, be sure to install the same version of LyX on all machines (within LyX, go to Help->About LyX to see the version number). Having a different version of LaTeX is usually not a concern. Documents should still compile with different LaTeX systems (e.g., MikTeX, MacTeX, or TeX Live) or versions. Please ensure that the same version of LyX is installed on all machines, and that LyX can successfully generate a .pdf from a simple document on each. Then, if your compatibility problem persists, report back, including the details of which LyX version is installed and on what machine(s). **I have had trouble when using absolute file references instead of relative ones, but you should check your LyX versions first, then we can explore whether this is the problem. I hope this helps. Jacob
