If I select the DVI view a second time without making changes to the
document i can reduce the time to 13 seconds until xdvi pops up.

But even if I do changes in the document it is much faster to use the
command line. Even if two or three runs are required it takes me less
than 5 seconds until xdvi pops up with the new version.
