Thanks for your reply. Due to that I realized what was the problem.
I had in LyX-display-math:

      T = rm{sign}(\Theta) arctan(E)

The TeX-mode rm{...} causes the problem. The influence of TeX-mode "rm{..}" is
not confined to within the brackets, but beyond.

When I use

      T = {rm sign}\Theta arctan(E)

it's just fine!


Is that how TeX-mode "rm" with brackets supposed to work?
