Sorry I've lost the beginning of the thread... I'd install a working
LaTeX, then remove everything I don't need from the tree. Maybe you
could specify the LyX features you really really need? I have a 25 MB
LaTeX on my 8 MHz Classic I Mac; if I found a ghostscript to work on
it, I could get it under 20 MB easily because I wouldn't need the
cm/ec fonts, probably not an option if you need formulas, which I
don't. But you see what I mean.
