algorithm

Hi!

I'm trying to use the algorithm package.  I have
\usepackage{algorithm} in the latex preamble and I've inserted an
algorithm float box. Now, what am I supposed to do? 

The documentation is very terse.  I've tried to enter latex 
commands that the algorithm package is supposed to recognize 
but that didn't work. 

I'll then just enter my algorithm in standard mode for the moment.
