Hi to everybody!

Some of the folks on this list rememeber me telling earlier that
we are starting to use Lyx for tech-writing for our manuals. I
promised to (I forgot the name already) one person to tell a bit
about the progress.

The self-made layout is working quite alright (with Finnish
tag-names) and the .dvi output looks fine. We have all the images in
.eps format, because that's the way Lyx wants them.

Next we wanted to output the manuals to .PDF, and with the info
from this list I got the images appear in the .PDF files, after
changing the image format to .PNG. For a short manual I wrote
LaTeX function with enough inteligency to include EPS file for
DVI output and PNG file for .PDF output. However this is not a
good solution, because users have to insert TeX -commands in
place of the images. And they can't see the preview (in Lyx) of
the images while writing the text.

I am wondering, are there any plans to support other image
formats (like JPG or PNG) in Lyx? This could make the creation
of PDF files more easier.
