Hello,
I became interested in TeX and managed to install
MikTeX on Windows 98.
It seemed like LyX was the logical choice for a
word editor.
So I downloaded LyX for Windows and the required
X-window server X-win32.
I have managed to install Linux in the past.
However, I am lost in the
installation process, the instructions are beyond
me.
Even setting up the X-window server. Has anybody
done this for Windows
who knows of simpler and more complete
documentation? For instance,
when I ran runlyx.bat it said it couldn't find the
directory of the server.
So not knowing what to edit, I uninstalled
everything and move it into
the directories that it was looking for. That got
past just the first error
message. And the questions that the server
installation asked, I had no
idea how to answer that for compatibility with LyX
configuration.
So is there anyone who has actually done this on
Windows98?
I intend to make a webpage out of this if
successful.
Regards,
Stephen
