  The correct layout to insert code is Code. :-)
  I inserted LyX-Code only for compatibility all those layouts will be converted
to Code, if you import them...

  Regarding your choice, NLyX-Code, I think that this is a bug. Even if the layout 
isn't
available throught the menu, the shortcut calls it. Any thoughts J-M or others?

  Regarding the importing of ascaii text you can always import it directly as
lines, look for Insert->Ascii file as -> Lines. Tell me if this doesn't work

  The right sgmltools to be used directly is sgmltools v2.3, That is only available
as a cvs version for now.
  What were your problems? I have some suspects, that could help you...
